Welcome to the Financial Education Network* (FEN)’s National Financial Literacy Symposium 2022 (NFLS2022) with the theme “Advancing Financial Literacy Towards Rebuilding Financial Resilience Post-Pandemic”. This inaugural NFLS2022 will be held on 11 – 12 October 2022 and will be jointly hosted by Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) and Bank Negara Malaysia, in collaboration with Malaysian Economic Association (MEA). The NFLS2022 provides a forum for policy makers, academicians, researchers, practitioners, analysts, associations, NGOs and other stakeholders to advance the nation’s financial literacy agenda in tandem with the country’s post-pandemic recovery and rebuilding efforts.

We would like to invite researchers, market practitioners, NGOs and members of the community to meet and exchange ideas and information, share research  findings on behavioural change, market trends, structural shifts and/or any related consumer issues arising from the pandemic. All papers will be reviewed by a Scientific  Committee panel.

The NFLS2022 invites papers on any of these topics from the perspective of Financial Literacy:

•    Baseline study of current state and gaps in Malaysia
•    Effectiveness of policies and programmes, including measurement
•    Digital financial literacy and consumer protection
•    Financial fraud and scams
•    Financial inclusion
•    Consumer financial behaviour
•    Behavioural insights for the design of financial products
•    Policy, behavioural or design-based interventions
•    Vulnerable groups, e.g. self – employed (including gig workers, MSMEs), youths and others

*The Financial Education Network (FEN) is an inter-agency platform which aims to elevate the financial literacy of Malaysians. The FEN is co-chaired by Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission Malaysia, with members comprising the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia, Employees Provident Fund, Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit and Permodalan Nasional Berhad.
