CALL FOR PAPER

The subject matter of Shariah governance and assurance is broad and can be approached from various angles such as Islamic Banking and Takaful, Islamic Capital Market, Zakat and Awqaf Institutions, Islamic Social Enterprises, and Islamic Cooperatives. Various authorities from all over the world have governed Islamic finance industry (IFI) by setting up policies and standards in accordance to Shariah, regulatory and institutional contexts.

Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) are jointly organizing the conference on Shariah Governance and Assurance in the Shariah based Institutions. The event is dated on 13 September 2017 and will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The conference will bring together regulators, professionals, industrial experts and scholars engaged in both practical and academic research on Shariah governance and assurance in specific industry.

Papers are invited from individual scholars, research groups as well as institutions on shariah governance and assurance in specific emerging and promising industries such as Islamic banking and Takaful, Capital Market, Zakat and Awqaf, Islamic Social Enterprise and Islamic Cooperatives. We are interested in papers that can lead to the creation of policy in Shariah governance and assurance.

MAIN AREAS OF INTEREST

Our interest in Shariah governance and assurance are divided into five sub-themes. They are:

  1. Governance and assurance in Islamic Banking and Takaful
  2. Governance and assurance in Islamic Capital Market
  3. Governance and assurance in Zakat and Awqaf institutions
  4. Governance and assurance in Islamic Social Enterprise
  5. Governance and assurance in Islamic Cooperatives


OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE

  1. To review the processes and procedures of Shariah governance and assurance for human capital development in Shariah-based institutions.
  2. To produce Shariah governance and assurance program for the development of human capital in Shariah-based institutions.
  3. To develop training modules for Shariah governance and assurance in Shariah-based institutions.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Policy makers, academicians, postgraduate and research students, professionals, entrepreneurs and other interested parties.

PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITY

Selected papers will be published in The Journal of Muamalat and Islamic Finance Research (JMIFR), a journal owned by FEM. Other articles will be published as proceeding of the conference.
