2019 Theory & Technique International Aerosol Conference and Malaysia Air

Quality Annual Symposium (T&T IAC and MAQAS)

Balik Pulau Hotel, Malacca, Malaysia, 7 - 8 August 2019

Welcome to The 2019 T&T IAC and MAQAS!

We are delighted to bring all the delegates to UNESCO Heritage of Malacca which also known as a premier model for Green City in Malaysia.

This year, the 2019 Theory &Technique International Aerosol Conference (2019 T&T IAC) and Malaysia Air Quality Annual Symposium (MAQAS) will be organized by The Clean Air Forum Society of Malaysia (MyCAS) and Taiwan Association for Aerosol Research (TAAR). The conference will be held in Malacca, Malaysia from 7 to 10th August 2019. The conference program comprises 2-days of conference day with side events on 2-days in the same week.

Over past several decades, air pollution in the Asia region has become more serious, particularly in urban areas due to rapid urbanization and industrialization. Air pollution has been linked to higher rates of cancer, heart disease, stroke, and respiratory diseases such as asthma. Hence, it is vital to tackle the air quality issues. Thus, the conference emphasizes interdisciplinary research along with practices and fosters exchanges among scientist, practitioners, professionals and young researchers who are concerned with the above aspects.

This conference covers a wide range of fundamental, applied and technology aspects of aerosol science and air quality that focusing on monitoring and control strategies, health impact, policy and management, big data and air pollution modelling using earth observation data, atmospheric transport and emissions from combustion process.

2019 T&T IAC and MAQAS serves as a platform which provides opportunities in establishing the networking among scientist, practitioners, professionals and young researchers in ASEAN regions. In addition to enhancing the dissemination of research findings and innovative practices, we are pleased to invite you to submit papers and participate through presentations and published proceedings/journals.

See you there!

The Clean Air Forum Society of Malaysia (MyCAS)

The participation and commitment of Malaysia experts and ministry of Environment, Malaysia with the Clean Air Asia (Agency Registered as NGO with the United Nation) was started since 2003 with the participation of Dr Noor Zaitun Yahaya and a few others with the initiatives and BAQ 2003. It was then followed by several activities conducted in Malaysia that gather and promote the clean air such as The Urban Air Quality Management in 2005, the Clean Air Seminar and forum.

The Clean Air Forum Society of Malaysia protem committee was formally form during in Sri Lanka Better Air Quality 2014. The round table discussion focus to establish a formal and legal air quality society in Malaysia and was chaired by the Clean Air Asia country representative Dr Noor Zaitun Yahaya from the University Malaysia Terengganu. The round table meeting was attended by several representatives from Malaysia agencies such as Department of Environment, Malaysia (representing Minister), and Industries, academia, students and the Clean Air Asia representatives. This society already registered with the Clean Air Asia and approved by them as them to representing Malaysia.

In the latest development, The Clean Air Forum Society of Malaysia finally was successful registered with the registration office in Malaysia professional society in 2016 with the registration number as PPM-023-11-01062016.

The organizing of the Asia largest conference name as the Better Air Quality or BAQ in 2018 was a successful milestone for this organization which gathered more than 700 stakeholders from local and international participants across Asia and all over the world. The event involved many international bodies and local ministries which was held in Kuching Sarawak from 14 – 16 November 2018.

Taiwan Association for Aerosol Research (TAAR)

The importance of aerosols to the human health, environment and the economy in Taiwan has attracted increasing attention when the standards for airborne particulate matter (PM) become more and more stringent and focus on smaller particles of diameter less than 10 micrometer and more recently, 2.5 micrometer. However, not until about 1990, a small group of Taiwan researchers has started to realize the need for an association devoted to the collaboration and promotion of aerosol science and technology research in Taiwan. The Chinese Association for Aerosol Research in Taiwan (CAART) was thus founded in August 1992. It was later renamed as Taiwan Association for Aerosol Research (TAAR) in August 2007. The purposes of the association are to facilitate the exchange of information and collaboration between members from home and abroad; to promote basic and applied research in aerosol science in Taiwan; and to improve environmental protection and public health.

The T&T IAC is an annual conference by TAAR. The first T&T IAC was held in Bangkok, Thailand in 2013 with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi as their co-organizer. It then moved to Kitakyushu, Japan in 2015, then to Manila, Philippines in 2016. After that it was held at Hoa Sen University in Vietnam in the same year. In 2017, it was co-organized by Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai, Thailand. Last year it was held in Seam Reap, Cambodia with their local co-organizer, Royal University of Phnom Penh.
