2nd International Conference on Islamic Financial Literacy (2nd  ICiFIL) 2024
2 & 3 October 2024

Langkawi Island, Malaysia

Website: https://conference.iium.edu.my/icifil/

Theme: “Empowering the Future: Integrating Financial Literacy and Sustainability in Islamic Finance

In the ever-evolving landscape of global finance, Islamic finance has stood out as an alternative underpinned by its ethical principles and commitment to sustainability. The International Conference on Islamic Financial Literacy (ICiFIL), inaugurated in 2021 by the IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF), has emerged as a seminal platform for advancing knowledge, promoting inclusivity, and bridging gaps in the understanding of Islamic finance. Rooted in ethical decision-making and social responsibility, Islamic finance aligns well with the global sustainability agenda, offering solutions for equitable growth and ethical business practices through its prohibition of interest, emphasis on risk-sharing, and ethical investment principles.

Recognising the critical role of financial literacy in empowering communities worldwide, the 2nd ICiFIL in 2024 seeks to delve deeper into the symbiosis between Islamic financial literacy and sustainability. Themed “Empowering the Future: Integrating Financial Literacy and Sustainability in Islamic Finance,” this conference aims to educate and enhance the capabilities of individuals and communities globally, advocating for sustainable practices that are harmonious with Maqasid al-Shariah. Through this lens, the conference aims to illuminate paths towards a more inclusive, ethical, and sustainable financial ecosystem, which reflects the dynamic and evolving nature of Islamic finance in the world today.

IIiBF, in collaboration with the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA), is delighted to announce the call for papers for the 2nd  International Conference on Islamic Financial Literacy (ICiFIL) 2024. Building on the success of our inaugural conference, the 2nd  ICiFIL aims to bridge knowledge gaps and promote financial inclusivity and literacy within the Islamic finance sector, emphasising sustainable economic practices aligned with Maqasid al-Shariah.
We warmly invite scholars, writers, academics, researchers, and professionals from the industry to contribute their original and significant unpublished research papers to this distinguished conference. Each submission will undergo a peer review process to ensure quality and relevance. Our committee will also select certain papers that meet specific criteria for potential publication. While we encourage submissions that directly relate to our conference theme and the sub-themes mentioned on our website, we are also open to related topics that extend beyond these areas.
