"Halal Economy: A Way Forward Towards a More Progressive, Dynamic, and Viable Future"

CALL FOR PAPERS

The global halal market has experienced rapid growth in recent years. This is evident as its trade value reached USD 3.1 trillion in 2018 and is projected to surge to USD 5.0 trillion by 2030. Meanwhile, the trade value in the Asia-Pacific region contributed USD 1.6 trillion in 2018, and it is expected to grow to USD 2.8 trillion by 2030. Specifically in Indonesia, the trade value of the halal industry reached USD 184 billion in 2020 and is projected to grow by 14.96%, reaching USD 281.6 billion by 2025. These facts clearly demonstrate the enormous potential of the halal industry as a platform for wealth generation and distribution among the countries of the Muslim world.

In this regard, the Doctoral Program in Islamic Economy and Halal Industry, Graduate School, Universitas Gadjah Mada; the University Research Group on Halal Economy, Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (KPU Ekonomi Halal FEP UKM) and Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with Pertubuhan Legasi Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (LEGASI); Ritsumeikan University and Kyoto University, are proud to organise the 3rd International Conference on Islamic and Halal Economic Studies (ICIHES 2025). This conference aims to serve as a premier platform for intellectual discourse, knowledge exchange, professional networking, and strategic collaboration.

We cordially invite academicians, researchers, professionals, policymakers, and industry experts to share their insights and the latest findings related to the field of halal economics. Participants are encouraged to submit original and unpublished works for presentation at the conference. We welcome conceptual and empirical papers, case studies, and other relevant scholarly contributions, provided they are written in English.
