2ND JOINT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON
MATHEMATICS, STATISTICS AND ENGINEERING

BACKGROUND

Institute of Engineering Mathematics (IMK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) in collaboration with Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) are pleased to announce the “2nd Joint International Conference on Mathematics, Statistics and Engineering (J-CoMSE 2024)” on 17-18 September 2024 in Universiti Malaysia Terengganu Convention Centre (UMTCC), Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia. The first series of this conference has been successfully run by 2021 and the conference proceeding has been indexed by SCOPUS. For 2024, this conference will be held in physical and virtual modes (HYBRID). The aim is to bring together academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange their knowledge in Mathematics, Statistics, Sciences and Engineering.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

1) PROF. DR. MOHD LAZIM ABDULLAH 

Prof Dr Mohd Lazim Abdullah is a Professor of Faculty of Computer Sciences and Mathematics, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. He obtained his first degree from University of Malaya, in June 1984 and a master’s degree from the Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1999. He received his Ph.D from the Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, in 2004. His research and expertise focus on fuzzy set theory of mathematics, decision making, applied statistics, and their applications to social ecology, environment, health sciences and management.   His research findings have been published in more than 400 publications. These include 235 refereed journals, 129 conference proceedings, and 34 chapters in book. He also authored 15 research books and monographs published by UMT Press. He has been ranked among the world’s top 2% scientists since 2019 by Stanford University in the field of artificial intelligence and image processing. Currently, he is the Head of Data and Digital Sciences Research Cluster at the UMT, and also as a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making.

For this event, he will share the challenge in bringing mathematics in engineering, environment, medical, and other related fields. For example, the cause-effect relationship between criteria that contribute to water security using the Intuitionistic Fuzzy-Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (IF-DEMATEL) method. Different from the typical DEMATEL which utilizes crisp numbers, this modification introduces intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IFNs) to enhance judgments in a group decision-making environment. In particular, the linguistic variables used in IF-DEMATEL are defined using the concept of two or three numbers of IFNs. It is anticipated that these findings would serve as useful references for water security management and policymakers.

• The number of pages are between 6-12 pages.
• Paper size is European A4.
• Margins are 4cm (top), 2.5cm (left and right) and 2.7cm (bottom).
• The paper includes the author name and affiliation (full address including country).
• There are no page numbers, or headers and footers, within the paper.
• The PDF is free of formatting errors (e.g. corrupt equations, missing or low-resolution figures), since conversion from Word to PDF can introduce formatting errors.
• Text is single spaced, not double spaced.
• The PDF file is editable and not password protected.
• All pages are portrait (landscape pages should be rotated).
• Reference lists are checked for accuracy. References can only be linked via Crossref if they are correct and complete.
• Figures are placed within the text, not collected at the end of the document.
• A thorough proofread is conducted to check the standard of English and ensure wording is clear and concise.
