Social Science is an important academic branch and plays a role as a contributor of ideas and implementation towards the social well-being of a country. Social Science includes various sub-fields such as Psychology, Counselling, Economics, Political Science, Anthropology and Sociology, History, Civilisation, Society, State, Administration and Public Policy, Communication, International Relations, Islamic Studies and so on. These fields are becoming popular and they have a place in higher education institutions where they become the choices for the local and international researchers. It shows that human sciences field is increasingly relevant and has a great impact on the social, economic and technological development around the world. From various research carried out, there are many potentials and findings in addition to various recommendations that can be used as references for the community development programs.
The research carried out needs to be given its own platform in order to gain publicity and can be translated in the form of partnership with local and international academicians. Thus, the organisation of the second International Convention of Social Sciences, Malacca, 2024 (2nd MELICOSS'24') is an initiative to introduce and promote social sciences offered at the Islamic University of Malacca (UNIMEL) to the local and international communities. In addition, UNIMEL which is located in Malacca, the World Heritage City, wishes to be an institution that promotes this state with its academic programs. In line with the historical values, the social development in Malacca has started since the 13th century and it has undergone changes consistent with time and modernisation. This convention is expected to bring together the researchers and the research paper especially regarding Malacca and other social science studies that will also be presented in this convention. Therefore, cooperation between universities will be built and thus, strengthen the academic relationship with each other.
