17TH MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL GENETICS CONGRESS (MiGC17)
Physical & Online Congress

In Conjunction with MiGC16:
30TH PGM ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

27-29 April 2027 (Tuesday - Thursday)
Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia

THEME:

One Health Through the Lens of Genetics: Bridging Species and Ecosystems

ORGANISED BY:

Persatuan Genetik Malaysia (Genetics Society of Malaysia)

CONFERENCE MANAGER:

WMIT Group Sdn Bhd

BACKGROUND

The 17th Malaysia International Genetics Congress (MiGC17) 2027 brings together researchers, academics, healthcare professionals, industry experts, policymakers and emerging scientists to explore how genetics and genomics can contribute to a more integrated understanding of health across humans, animals, plants, microbes and the environment.

Guided by the theme “One Health Through the Lens of Genetics: Bridging Species and Ecosystems,” MiGC17 highlights the important role of genetics in addressing complex and interconnected global challenges. From the emergence of infectious diseases and genetic disorders to sustainable food production, biodiversity conservation and ecosystem resilience, advances in genetics and genomics are increasingly central to understanding the relationships that shape the health of our planet.

Through interdisciplinary scientific exchange, MiGC17 aims to encourage collaboration across traditionally separate fields and promote innovative genetic and genomic approaches that support the One Health concept — recognising that the health of humans, animals and ecosystems is deeply interconnected.

MiGC17 provides a platform for scientists from diverse disciplines to exchange knowledge, establish collaborations and explore how genetics can bridge the boundaries between species, disciplines and ecosystems.  By bringing together discoveries from medicine, biomedicine, agriculture, biodiversity, wildlife and environmental sciences, MiGC17 seeks to advance genetic knowledge towards a healthier and more sustainable future for people, animals and the planet.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Congress cordially invites academics, practitioners, scholars, researchers, and policymakers from government agencies to present oral or poster papers at MiGC17. Interested participants are encouraged to register and submit their abstracts online via:

http://submit.confbay.com/conf/migc17

All submitted abstracts will undergo blind peer review by the Scientific Committee. Authors of accepted abstracts will be required to submit a full paper (if interested in publication), which must include the following sections:

Title, author(s), affiliations and email addresses, abstract, introduction, methodology, results and discussion, conclusion, acknowledgements, and references.

Manuscripts must be prepared in Times New Roman, font size 12, with single spacing, and should not exceed 15 pages, including tables and figures.

To cultivate a strong scientific culture among the next generation, the Congress strongly encourages postgraduate students worldwide to present their research. A discounted registration fee will be offered to support their participation.

CONGRESS TRACK:

The scientific programme is organised into three major tracks:

Track 1: Health and Disease
This track focuses on advances in human, animal and microbial genetics that improve our understanding of health, disease mechanisms, disease susceptibility and emerging health threats.
Topics may include genetics and genomics of human diseases, precision medicine, cancer genetics, rare and inherited disorders, pathogen genomics, infectious disease evolution, host–pathogen interactions, antimicrobial resistance, molecular diagnostics, pharmacogenomics and emerging genomic technologies.

Track 2: Food, Agriculture and Bioresources
This track explores how genetics and genomics can contribute to sustainable agriculture, food security and the responsible utilisation of biological resources.
Areas of interest include crop and livestock genetics, molecular breeding, agricultural biotechnology, genomic selection, plant and animal disease resistance, food genomics, aquaculture, microbial and bioresource genetics, climate-resilient agriculture and innovative genetic approaches for sustainable food production.

Track 3: Biodiversity, Ecosystems and the Future
This track highlights the role of genetics and genomics in understanding, protecting and sustaining biodiversity and ecosystems in a rapidly changing world.
Topics may include conservation genetics, population genomics, environmental DNA, metagenomics, evolutionary genetics, wildlife genetics, microbial diversity, ecosystem genomics, species adaptation, climate-change resilience and genomic approaches for biodiversity monitoring and conservation.
