Call For Papers

We cordially invite scholars, researchers, and students to our NBS 2026, which will be held on 11 & 12 November 2026, at The Everly Putrajaya, Malaysia

National Biotechnology Symposium (NBS)
11 & 12 November 2026
The Everly Putrajaya

Theme:   Biotechnology 360: Innovate.Integate.Inspire

The National Biotechnology Symposium (NBS) 2026 stands as a premier national platform dedicated to advancing biotechnology research, innovation, and application in addressing Malaysia’s strategic development priorities and emerging global challenges. Designed to foster high-impact scientific dialogue and translational innovation, NBS 2026 brings together biotechnology researchers, academicians, policymakers, industry leaders, innovators, and young scientists to explore how cutting-edge biotechnological solutions can drive sustainable socio-economic growth and national resilience.

Biotechnology plays a critical role in strengthening food and nutritional security, enhancing healthcare preparedness, supporting environmental sustainability, and accelerating the transition towards a robust bio-based economy. In line with Malaysia’s Dasar Bioteknologi Negara 2.0 (DBN 2.0), NBS 2026 emphasizes the integration of fundamental research with applied innovation, technology transfer, and commercialization to ensure that scientific discoveries are translated into tangible societal and economic benefits.

Building upon the success of previous symposiums, NBS 2026 highlights the convergence of modern biotechnological approaches across key sectors, including agricultural biotechnology, industrial and environmental biotechnology, medical and health biotechnology, bioinformatics, synthetic biology, and biomanufacturing. The symposium underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the adoption of advanced tools such as genomics, gene editing, systems biology, digital biotechnology, and AI-driven bioprocess optimization to address complex, real-world challenges.

With a strong focus on innovation-driven impact, NBS 2026 features keynote lectures, plenary sessions, technical presentations, poster exhibitions, and industry showcases that collectively promote knowledge exchange, capacity building, and strategic partnerships. The symposium also provides a critical interface between academia, industry, and government agencies, facilitating pathways for technology readiness advancement, startup development, and commercialization of biotechnology solutions.

Ultimately, NBS 2026 serves as a catalyst for shaping a future-ready national biotechnology ecosystem, supporting Malaysia’s aspiration to become a competitive biotechnology hub in the region. By aligning with national development agendas and global sustainability goals particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action) the symposium reinforces biotechnology’s pivotal role in driving sustainable development, economic resilience, and societal well-being for Malaysia and beyond.
