The Financial Education Network (FEN) is organising the National Financial Literacy Symposium 2023 (NFLS2023). This year, the NFLS2023 will be co-hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) in collaboration with Malaysian Economic Association (MEA).

The NFLS2023 invites submissions of original research papers, and case studies on Malaysia that explore the topic of enhancing financial literacy and resilience in the context of national and global uncertainties. Implementing structural reforms and promoting financial literacy can be mutually reinforcing in enhancing economic growth, stability, and social welfare.

We therefore, would like to invite esteemed researchers, policy developers, market practitioners, NGOs and members of the community to share your research findings of any related topics listed below from the perspectives of financial literacy, financial inclusion and financial well-being.

Potential topics of interest from the perspective of Financial Literacy include, but are not limited to:
•    Analysis of post pandemic financial inclusion issues and challenges  
•    Effectiveness of policies and programmes, including their measurement
•    Digital financial literacy and consumer protection
•    Financial fraud and scams
•    Financial inclusion and social protection
•    Consumer financial behaviour
•    Behavioural insights for the design of financial products
•    Policy design and implementation
•    Vulnerable groups, e.g., self – employed (including gig workers, MSMEs), youths and others.
•    Understanding financial needs at different life stages
•    The application of behavioural insights to influence financial behaviour
•    Harnessing financial literacy to enhance retirement well-being

AWARD AND POSTER PRESENTATION

The papers will be reviewed by a Scientific Committee panel and qualified paper(s) will be presented during the symposium. Selected papers will be invited for poster exhibition at the conference with a certificate of recognition.

The Conference Organizer will confer e-Certificate/s for Best Paper Award to qualified paper(s) as recommended by the Scientific  Committee’s panel.

•    Three (3) Best Paper will receive RM1,000 cash prize for each paper.

PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITIES

Selected papers will be invited for further review and consideration for publication in the Malaysian Journal of Economic Studies (MJES).

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Full papers should be submitted in electronic format via

Manuscripts should be prepared according to
https://mjes.um.edu.my/index.php/MJES/about/submissions

Manuscript Formatting: Manuscripts should be written in English and should not exceed 8,000 words including diagrams, figures, tables, etc. Manuscripts should be typewritten with double spacing. A manuscript should be divided into sections with short titles or subtitles. All pages should be numbered consecutively. An abstract of not more than 200 words should be provided.
