National Financial Literacy Symposium 2024
(NFLS2024)

Theme: Inclusive Financial Well-being – Nurturing Financial Capabilities Across Communities

The Financial Education Network (FEN) is organising the National Financial Literacy Symposium 2024 (NFLS2024). This year, the NFLS2024 will be co-hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia, Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) in collaboration with Malaysian Economic Association (MEA).

We therefore, would like to invite esteemed researchers, policy developers, market practitioners, NGOs and members of the community to share research findings of any related topics listed below from the perspectives of financial literacy, financial inclusion and financial well-being.
•    Financial inclusion
•    Baseline study of current state and gaps in Malaysia
•    Effectiveness of policies and programmes, including measurement
•    Digital financial literacy
•    Financial fraud and scams
•    Consumer financial behaviour
•    Consumer protection Behavioural insights for the design of financial products
•    Policy, behavioural or design-based interventions
•    Vulnerable groups, e.g. self – employed (including gig workers, MSMEs), youths and others
•    The impact of financial capabilities on well-being
•    Lifecycle planning for dignified retirement
•    Assessing financial capabilities across diverse communities

Paper presentation and awards

The papers will be reviewed by a Scientific Committee panel and qualified paper(s) will be invited to make a presentation during the symposium. In addition, 3 best paper awards also will be conferred as recommended by the Scientific Committee.

Three (3) Best Paper Awards with RM1,000 cash prize for each paper.

Publication and Grant Opportunities

*Papers will be selected for publication in Malaysian Journal of Economic Studies (MJES), Institutions and Economies (IE) or an edited book. In addition, authors will also be invited to apply for grants to extend their studies based on the papers presented.
