INTRODUCTION

The Regional Network on Poverty Eradication (RENPER) and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) will jointly organize The 10th International Conference on Poverty Eradication (10th RENPER) . It will be held as a hybrid on  August 14th 2023.  We are honored to invite all professors, researchers, students, and practitioners in academics, industries, and governments to share their ideas and insights to facilitate discussions on issues of the poverty and social protection.

THEME:

POVERTY AND SOCIAL PROTECTION: THE FUTURE OF ASIA POVERTY

Aligned with the proposed theme, technology has the potential to play a critical role in overcoming poverty by providing new opportunities, improving access to resources and fostering economic growth. For instance, technology provides entrepreneurs with tools and platforms to start and scale their businesses. By leveraging technological advancements, entrepreneurs can create innovative solutions to address social challenges and improve the lives of individuals living in poverty. For example, mobile applications, e-commerce platforms, and online marketplaces enable entrepreneurs to reach larger customer bases and create sustainable business models that generate income and job opportunities. Not just that, the power of technology can facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skills, empowering individuals to build capacity and participate in economic activities.

However, the successful integration of technology and poverty eradication requires a supportive ecosystem, including policies that promote digital infrastructure, digital literacy programs, and inclusive access to technology. Collaboration between governments, businesses, and non-profit organizations is essential to create an enabling environment where technology can effectively contribute to poverty reduction and sustainable business growth.
