Background
ICES 2026, which will be held in Kunming from 13 to 15 October 2026, is the second edition of the conference following the success of its first edition in 2024. The organisation of this conference is proposed as a high-impact international-level institute activity, in line with strengthening UniSZA’s strategic collaboration network through ESERI with National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC), Yunnan Observatories (YNAO), and MyFundAction. These collaborations have been formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and further reinforced by official invitations from MyFundAction and YNAO.
ICES 2026 is organised as a strategic platform to strengthen knowledge dissemination and enhance the exchange of expertise in environmental science, while also fostering collaborative networks among academics, researchers, professionals, and industry players at both national and international levels.
The ICES 2026 conference is expected to generate a greater number of high-quality scholarly articles for publication in reputable proceedings and journals. These publications will support research fellows, postgraduate students, and research officers at ESERI in enhancing their competencies and improving the overall quality of their research.
Keynote Speaker:
Prof. Dr. Xiaojian Zhou,
Southwest Forestry University, Kunming, China
Biography:
Dr. Xiaojian Zhou received his Ph.D. on Wood and Fiber Science from University of Lorraine in France, 2013. then joined Luleå University of Technology in Sweden, as a post-doctoral fellow. He is serving as professor at Southwest Forestry University in China now. Dr. Zhou is experienced in the processing and evaluation of bio-based resin adhesives and wood composites, his research has been supported by the EU, NSFC, and the local government and societies. He has published more then 100 peer-reviewed articles and professional conference proceedings, 5 domestic and international books including chapters, served as reviewer for multiply international journals, obtained 20 authorized rights for invent patents and 4 provincial S&T awards as well as 1 national Science-Technology Progress Award as main contributors. As an outstanding youth representative, he obtained the Yunnan Provincial Youth S&T Award in 2019 and the National Forest and Grass Youth S&T Award in 2022 as well as the special allowance from Yunnan Provincial People's Government. He was selected high level national and provincial talents projects in recent years.

Publication
All accepted papers will be considered for publication in the Scopus indexed conference proceedings, subject to the publisher’s review and approval process. Papers not accepted by the publisher may be recommended for publication in the ESERI, UniSZA Journal - Malaysian Journal of Applied Sciences (MyCite indexed).
