The 2nd International Conference on Islamic Finance and Sustainability
(ICIFS 2027) provides an international platform for advancing high-quality
research, evidence-based policy dialogue, and innovative solutions under the theme
"Islamic Finance and Sustainability in a Fragmented World:
Innovation, Inclusion, and Impact".
The conference seeks to foster critical discussions on how Islamic finance can
contribute to building resilient financial systems, promoting sustainable
development, strengthening financial inclusion, supporting the halal economy,
harnessing responsible digital innovation, and generating tangible impacts for
communities and economies worldwide.
By bringing together scholars, practitioners, regulators, industry leaders, and
emerging researchers, the conference aims to bridge theory and practice while
shaping the future trajectory of Islamic finance in an increasingly fragmented
yet interconnected world.
Papers in all areas of Islamic finance, accounting, and economics dealing with
sustainable development issues are welcome. Specific topics include, but are not
limited to:
This stream explores how Islamic finance contributes to sustainable development
through Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah, ESG, responsible investment, climate action,
circular economy, green and sustainability-linked sukuk, impact investing, and
financing mechanisms that support inclusive and resilient development.
This stream focuses on the resilience, efficiency, competitiveness, and stability
of Islamic financial institutions and markets in an increasingly uncertain
global economy.
This stream examines how Islamic social finance instruments (e.g., takaful,
zakat, awqaf, infaq, and shodaqoh) promote poverty alleviation, financial
inclusion, social justice, community resilience, and equitable economic
development.
This stream investigates how emerging technologies are reshaping Islamic finance
while ensuring compliance with Sharīʿah principles and ethical innovation.
This stream explores the expanding halal ecosystem and its integration with
Islamic finance in supporting sustainable production, trade, logistics, tourism,
healthcare, education, and global value chains.
This stream addresses governance, ethics, Sharīʿah compliance, regulatory
developments, accountability, transparency, and institutional trust in Islamic
finance.
This stream investigates behavioural dimensions of Islamic finance, financial
literacy, consumer behaviour, psychology, marketing, and societal well-being.
This stream focuses on macroeconomic policy, development economics,
international finance, public policy, and economic resilience from Islamic
perspectives.
This stream welcomes innovative, interdisciplinary, and forward-looking research
that addresses new challenges and opportunities in Islamic finance. Possible
topics include quantum finance, digital assets, tokenisation, climate risk
modelling, big data analytics, machine learning, Islamic finance and the space
economy, future financial systems, and responsible innovation.
This stream examines how Islamic economics and finance can respond to conflict,
displacement, sanctions, and economic disruption through humanitarian financing,
peacebuilding, livelihood restoration, institutional resilience, and sustainable
post-conflict reconstruction, while advancing justice, inclusion, and Maqāṣid
al-Sharīʿah in fragile societies globally.
Abstracts should be no longer than 500 words. The title of the paper must be in
bold and should be followed by the names of all authors. The name of the presenting
author should be underlined and must include contact details, including an email
address.
The abstract should briefly introduce the research topic, identify the research
problem and/or objectives, indicate the methodological approach planned or used to
address the research problem, and summarise the main or expected findings and
policy implications.
Authors intending to present their papers at the conference must submit an abstract
through the designated ConfBay online submission system.
Please note: Submission of a full paper is mandatory for participation and
presentation at the conference.
Authors of accepted papers are required to submit full papers to the conference
secretariat through the ConfBay online submission system.

Before submitting, please also ensure that:
Submitted papers will undergo a standard peer-review process for publication.
Three papers will be selected for the Best Paper Awards. All submitted papers will
be reviewed based on merit, novelty, and practical application.
Papers registered after 31 January 2027 will not be considered for the awards.
The abstracts of all accepted and presented papers at the conference will be
published in the 2nd International Conference on Islamic Finance and
Sustainability 2027 e-Proceedings with ISBN.
Selected papers will be considered for publication, subject to double-blind review
and the requirements of the respective journals, in the following international
refereed journals (tentative):
Selected papers may also be commissioned for publication as part of an edited book.
