This invitation and call for participation are addressed to scholars, researchers, government regulators and corporations. You are invited to submit extended abstract / full paper online now.

Theme:
“COVID-19 Challenges to Islamic Financial Firms and Economies”

This international consortium of leading universities share the key goal of developing authentic literature in Islamic Finance as a scholarly discipline by organising a three-day web-based conference. The seven universities are: Sunway University, Malaysia as the host organiser jointly with INCEIF, Malaysia; Istanbul University, Turkey; Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar; Istanbul Commerce University, Turkey; Latrobe University, Australia; Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, Turkey jointly holding this conference. The consortium of international universities is proud to host an international meeting using Emerald’s Gotowebinar platform as a service to this scholarly endeavour.

FIFC started with a very large financial grant from the Australian Research Council in 2005 to a research team led by Prof Mohamed Ariff at the Monash University, Australia to generate original research to add new authentic literature to the then emerging discipline of Islamic Finance. The first three meetings were held in Melbourne, Australia, after which subsequent meetings were hosted internationally in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Durham University, and Lancaster University in the U.K.as well as UUM, INCEIF & Sunway University in Malaysia. This series of conferences has led to the publication of eight peer-reviewed books on Islamic banking, sukuk, financial institutions, wealth management, economics &banking risk published by reputed publishers Edward Elgar, John Wiley, etc. Islamic Finance series. Together with the best papers identified published at each meeting and also published independently by paper presenters in journals over nine years, there is strong evidence of creating an authentic literature by the FIFC. We invite you to participate for the 11-th conference in 2021, the aims are:

(i) Program: All peer-reviewed accepted papers are to be presented during 3-days of presentations/discussions of your papers following our blind review process for selection of extended abstracts/papers by the International Review Panel of professors.

(ii) Best Paper Awards: Of the papers presented/discussed as evidencing original contributions to the growing IF literature, four papers will win the Certificate of Best Paper Award. The winning papers are to be published subsequently in one or more journals associated with the 11-th FIFC. Authors must indicate on the first page to participate in the competition, and if the paper is selected shall not withdraw from publishing in the journals associated with the 11-th FIFC. In addition, two best practice-relevant or applied papers will win Certificate of Best Paper Awards. This prize is provided by the Chartered Financial Analyst body. These winning papers will be decided by the Review Panel only and shall be published in the CFA’s Asia-Pacific journal for use by CFA community.

(iii) Journals: A number of other-than the best papers will be selected by the editor(s) of three ranked Scopus-indexed journals (Journal Islamic Accounting & Business Research; Turkish Journal of Islamic Economics; and Bursa Istanbul Review (tbc)) as associated journals of 11-th FIFC. The selected papers by a Review Panel will undergo a further journals’ review process, if accepted, published in the three associated journals. Hence there is opportunity to publish your good works in a career-okay journal.
