Bangi International Conference on Law and Society 2026 (Bangi ICoLaS 2026)
World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
Date: 27 - 28 October 2026
Introduction
The Bangi International Conference on Law and Society 2026 (Bangi ICoLaS 2026) is an international scholarly platform organised by the Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, to address emerging socio-legal challenges in the context of rapid technological, social, economic and environmental transformations.
The conference seeks to explore the evolving relationship between law and society in the era of digitalisation, globalisation, climate change, migration, and shifting governance paradigms. Contemporary legal systems are increasingly required to adapt to complex issues such as cybercrime, artificial intelligence, human rights governance, gender justice, digital economies, and sustainable development.
By bringing together academics, policymakers, legal practitioners, industry experts, and postgraduate researchers, Bangi ICoLaS 2026 aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue, strengthen international research collaboration, and contribute to evidence-based legal and policy reforms at national, regional and global levels.
The conference theme, “Rule of Law and Good Governance in ASEAN and Beyond,” reflects the commitment to advancing legal scholarship, strengthening institutional integrity, and promoting inclusive and sustainable governance frameworks in a rapidly changing world.
Bangi ICoLaS 2026 is designed as a two-day international academic conference featuring keynote speeches, plenary panels, parallel paper sessions, policy roundtables, methodological workshops, and poster presentations. The conference provides a platform for scholars and practitioners to present cutting-edge research findings, exchange ideas, and develop collaborative research and publication initiatives.
The conference covers six major thematic tracks: Criminal Law and Security Governance; Human Rights and Governance; Family, Gender and Society; Technology Law and the Digital Economy; Tourism Law and Social Development; and Sustainability, Environmental and Ecological Law. These tracks reflect pressing socio-legal issues facing ASEAN and the global community.
Participants include academics, postgraduate students, government officials, legal professionals, industry stakeholders, and international organisations. Expected outcomes include indexed conference proceedings, special journal issues, research networking, and policy-relevant outputs that contribute to strengthening the role of universities as centres of legal knowledge and policy innovation.
